Since opening, we've learned a lot about what truly is "safe" and sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find out the real truth about a product.
A great tool that all moms can access is The Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep rating website. It's amazing and scary to see the ratings of some of the most common "natural and safe" products on the market! Generally, you want to keep all of your products in the 0-3 rating (out of 10) to make sure you're doing the best to keep your kids safe from harmful chemicals.

my little superstar?

I'm pretty sure it is safe to say Lucy's future does not include any sort of stage. I'm normally not one to subject people to home movies but this is too funny not to share. Lucy's daycare class sang some songs during church recently to celebrate the week of the small child. Because her dad and I are divorced, it's quite the feat to get all of us together for something like this but there we were...mom, dad, 3 grandmas, and 2 grandpas all anxiously awaiting the "show". After a week of practicing, I of course expected my daughter to SHINE during this performance but instead, she did this...(she's the well dressed adorable girl with the flower in her hair closest to the camera)

Seriously??? I don't think she could look more disinterested if she tried!

for my cloth diaper mommas...

With the great sucess of the Flip diapers by Bumgenius, it's been awesome to see so many families embrace the cloth diapering process. The ease of using the "new" type of cloth has definitely been a huge factor in this and I often hear "it's SOOO much easier than I thought it would be". That being said, cloth diapers are definitely a bit bulkier than disposibles. For the most part the extra bulk is a small thing to deal with(especially when you look at the amount of money that can be saved!) but with the new Organic All in Ones by bumgenius that we just got in today, you'll hardly be able to tell the difference! It's great to at least have one or two of these on hand for special outfits that require a little trimmer bum.

For you Flip users, we also got in the organic inserts which are so soft and are ideal for those overnight heavy wetters.

Oh and look at how cute cloth is?


We also have some great wet/dry bags and hemp doublers on the way so I'll keep you posted as they arrive.

happy momma's day!

I just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there, especially my sweet momma. Many of you have met my mom because if she's not helping me with Lucy, you can sometimes find her helping at the store. She truly is the best mom I could wish for. She has supported me through good and bad and there is a true comfort in knowing that I could go to her for anything. I looked for a good picture of us and all I could come up with is a picture of my mom, sister, and I from one of my baby showers when I was like 12 months pregnant!! ugh...who decided it's a good idea to take pictures when you are that prego?!?

It's Radioactive!

Ok...so not really but look at the cool Piggy Paint nailpolish we got in today? The name of the color is "radioactive" because it GLOWS IN THE DARK?!?



It's still the same non-toxic, water based formula as the other Piggy paint just now in a clear polish that GLOWS! Seriously, I'm hoping this will amuse my kid enough at bedtime to keep her out of the hamper.

For those lil boys out there, we also just got in some great new stuff for my FAVORITE boys brand Knuckleheads!

It's so hard to believe but my BABY is turning THREE today! When I think of everything we've gone through together since that wonderful day that she was born, I'm sometimes amazed that we made it through in one piece!
