Wanna brag about your babies?

A few weeks ago I met this fun girl when she came into the store on a mission of planning a good friends baby shower. We got to talking and absolutely clicked. She is hilarious and it just so happens that she's a writer and reporter. To get to my point, her name is Patricia Carlson and also writes a blog http://talesofan-almost-mommy.blogspot.com/ where among other things, she features a weekly column titled "Baby Braggin Wednesday". It's so you can show off your nugget with pictures, stories and fun, little facts. Each week, she selects a little peanut to feature and write up a blog entry about him/her/them. You just need to supply the pics and info!

So this week, she featured my sweet and sassy girl Lucy! I mean really, who DOESN'T like to brag about their babies?

Head over to her blog to find out how to submit info on your kiddos.

Also, I want to remind all of you that WE WILL BE CLOSING AT 4PM TODAY for New Year's Eve. Hours will be back to normal tomorrow!

Please have a safe & happy New Year's Eve!

Hello, my name is Kris and I'm a bag-o-holic...

Now that life is (sorta) back to normal after the holidays, I thought I'd show off one of our newest bags from JJ Cole that I love. I'm kind of bag girl (hence the bag-o-holic title) so it's seriously hard not to purchase one of everything! I have to admit that since Lucy's arrival my bag/purse collection has seriously suffered but I guess she's worth it!

And coming in hopefully this week as well are these fun ones from the same great company.

Not only do I love JJ Cole because my rep is super fun and helpful but they actually stand behind all their products by offering a great warranty. Hard not to love the great quality, price, style, AND warranty!

In a few housekeeping notes, we will be OPEN New Year's Day our regular hours of 10am-6pm so stop in if you are lucky enough to have the day off. We MAY have some extra fun sales going on but you'll have to stop in and see. OK, or you could check the blog that morning because we all know I'll be posting the sales there too! As far as New Years Eve goes, we will be open that day but close a little early at 4pm.

Hope to see you soon!

30% OFF ALL TOYS!

Stop in for 30% off all toys (including the wheely bugs, gourmet kitchens, and master tool benches)!

Hope everyone made it through the holidays safely! Lucy and I had the BEST time being stranded together. Lots of cuddles, movies, playing with the new toys, and even made a huge slide out of snow on our back patio. I'm a lucky girl!

Have a great week

Saturday hours

As all of you in Fargo-Moorhead and surrounding areas know, we are smack in the middle of a blizzard. Since they are advising no travel in Fargo through the morning, we will not be opening before noon tomorrow, Saturday, December 26th. I will keep the blog updated tomorrow morning once we know more about what the weather is doing.

Until then, I am having a great Christmas being stranded with my little Lucy. I hope all of you are having a Merry Christmas as well!

Merry Christmas!

Since time got away from me and I never got Christmas cards out to our customers this year, I thought I'd share the beautiful cards that Ria from Rialeephotography put together for us this year. Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for making it another great year at Pout!

Remember that we are open until 2pm today if you need any last minute gifts or stocking stuffers!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Visit to Santa

This Sunday, Holly and I took the girls to Santa's Village at Rheault Farm and as you can see from the pictures, they had a great time.

After about a half hour wait in which the five year old girl behind us first scolded the girls for eating snow (in our defense, it was CLEAN snow from the railing not the ground) then told Lucy that Santa was going to be mad at her for knocking an ornament off the tree (it was a LONG half hour), we FINALLY made it to Santa!

And last but not least, a shot of them in the sleigh with their friend Elsa.

It was exhausting but fun and I love that the girls get to share in special days like this together.

On the store front, just a few things...

We will be OPEN on Christmas Eve but will close at 2pm instead of 6pm. We will be CLOSED on Christmas Day but will re-open again regular hours of 10am-5pm on Saturday, December 26th. Hope to see some of you!

If you are need of last minute gifts, stop in! We still have lots to choose from.

An email from Santa....it's definitely 2009!

This weekend I had a customer tell me about this great site that sends an email to your child FROM Santa. So it sounds cool but let me tell you, the look on Lucy's face was ABSOLUTELY unforgettable when she heard Santa call her by name! I'm not kidding, I cried. Everyone HAS to check this site out! It's free and only takes a few minutes to fill out the info. Have a picture ready to attach as well so Santa can show your child their "page" in his big book of naughty/nice children.

http://portablenorthpole.tv/home

Oh and be sure to have some tissues near by just in case you're as sappy as me (and Holly, she cried too when Isabelle exclaimed "Santa knows my name!"). You might even want to get them watching the email on video. I sure wish I would have!

By the way, thanks Quinn! BEST suggestion EVER!

Spring, really?

I don't think I'll EVER totally understand the clothing line seasons in retail. Spring in December...in Fargo....really? Anyway, I was super happy to receive our first "Spring" shipment today for Wes and Willy, one of our absolute FAVORITE boy lines. It's all long sleeve and we even got a pair of cozy fleeze pants so it's totally appropriate for this time a year even though it's technically part of their Spring line, weird. Here's a peek at a few pieces.

Pretty cute huh? And just in time for Christmas!

See you soon. :)

who says the number 13 is unlucky?

Tommorrow, December 13th, my very best bestie turns the BIG 3 - 0! I can announce her age because I'm older than her (you know by just a few days).

We've been through so much and she is the most honest, loyal, loving, caring, and sweet girly I know. Not to mention a great mommy, wife, and friend.

I love you Holly...you old bag!

Let the countdown begin

With just 2 weeks until Christmas, I know life can get a little hectic and stressful! I've been stressed for what seems like weeks but then last night was my little Lucy's Holiday program for daycare. For whatever reason really made me stop and remember what this season is all about.

Try to excuse the fuzzy photography but apparently it was such a production that they asked for "no flash photography"....huh?

This girl had TWO rows of attendees there just to see her sing one of the most out of tune and confusing renditions of Jesus Loves Me. The look on her face when she saw all her family sitting in the audience was absolutely priceless. With divorced parents and divorced grandparents(on her dad's side), I wouldn't call our situation ideal by any means but she doesn't care. All she knows is that last night everyone dropped everything to be there to share her moment.

So even with all the stress of family, shopping, traveling, and who know what else this season, take a moment to reflect on what the holidays are really about.

Hope everyone had a great week!

hello world.

I actually found this great brand on a blog that I frequent http://www.dooce.com/. Her daughter was wearing one in a picture and she raved about how great it was so I had to check them out. Turns out that Cindi from Hello World Clothing went to a year of college at NDSU! Anyway, their patent pending SmartZip sleeper is such an awesome idea that I can't wait to use them on my next little one.

Night time changes are here to stay, but who says it has to end that way? Hello World™ Clothing Company has rewritten the story by introducing innovation to common sense. The result literally changes the way you change your baby; from the bottom, where it makes more sense. The patent pending SmartZip™ sleeper has a two-way zipper. Still opening from the top for traditional purposes, but also unzipping from the bottom for quicker, easier access to your baby. No more snaps or one way zippers to fumble with in the dark, and a lot less disrupted baby afterwards. Quicker? Yes. Smarter? Absolutely. Happier Ending? Definitely!
Stop in and check them out!

sure thing

There aren't many sure things when it comes to parenting but I can truly say that the Earth Muffin Diaper Rash Ointment (that just arrived today for those of you waiting) is just that....a sure thing! There is absolutely nothing that works better for my Lucy and many other of our mommies that swear by it. In fact, if you've used it for your little one, leave a comment on how it worked. And if you've been waiting for it to arrive, stop in or email me at kris@poutbabyboutique.com and I can set one aside for you.

Keep an eye out for the Earth Muffin chapped cheeks relief and shampoo bar that is coming soon....

sweet babies

How adorable are these cable knit sweater coveralls? The white one would even be a great baptism alternative for a little guy. I was lucky enough to snuggle TWO newborns on Friday and it's giving me baby fever! Just imagine a little one in this cozy outfit...CUTE!

In other news....Lucy said this morning "momma, I wish I had a sled". For a kid who hardly EVER asks for anything, that was a pretty big deal. Since she only asked for "a beach ball" from Santa I feel compelled to get her one but I'm guessing Grandma & Grandpa will beat me to it.

This got me thinking? What are your kiddos asking for from Santa? Holly's little Isabelle was asking for "an airplane big enough to sit on" hmmmm....that's a tough one. I'd love to hear what other little ones are asking for.

Hope you had a fun weekend.

Best in the Region

A Facebook "friend" turned me onto WDAY's Best of the Region contest and I thought I'd share it with all of you. Of course, we'd love it if you picked Pout for the Best children's Store and/or Best Toy store but there are lots of other categories as well. This link http://www.wday.com/pages/shopping will take you to the shopping portion of the contest but when you are done there, you can just go back to the main menu and choose your favorite Entertainment, Food & Drink, Service, Health, Transportation, and Ag business. It's always nice to recognize your favorite businesses to let them know all their hard work is appreciated.

Hope you all had a great Turkey Day! We got some much needed family time, Holly with her sister and nephew and me with my parents and sister's family. I have to say the most exciting thing of all was Lucy's very first poop in the potty. You know you're a mom when you brag about your child's poop on a blog but hey....it was pretty cool! My little baby is officially out of diapers and I'm torn between being really proud of her big girl accomplishment and feeling sad for her to be growing up so fast! I guess that's what being a mommy is all about.

Have a great weekend and remember we have LOTS of cool and unique toys for your little ones Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.

Oh, and all Petunia Picklebottom clutches will remain 40% OFF so stop in and check them out if you haven't already.

3/50 Friday!

Here's a piece from the Always Upward blog written by the 3/50 project founder Cinda Baxter that I thought I would share with the big "Black Friday" coming up. Whether it be Pout (which of course we would LOVE) or any other of your favorite independant retailers in Fargo-Moorhead....get out there and support your local economy this Friday! We will of course be closed for Thanksgiving day but will be open again normal hours 10am-6pm on "3/50 Friday!" :)

Forget all that big box mumbo jumbo the day after Thanksgiving (who really likes being in those crowds, anyway?). This year, I say we rename the day that follows turkey and mashed potatoes.
I say we call it 3/50 Friday, in celebration of
The 3/50 Project. It will be the day we each vow to stop into at least one independent, locally owned brick and mortar to say thanks….

Thanks for smiling and greeting me by name.

Thanks for remembering that I love peonies and detest carnations.

Thanks for asking how my mother is doing, then being sincerely happy when I say she’s well.

Thanks for restocking my favorite candle even though it’s that crazy lime green color.

Thanks for helping me locate the perfect gift for the boss I barely know.

Thanks for laughing when I need a lift and for listening when I need to let down.

Thanks for noticing when I’ve changed my haircut.

Thanks for not noticing when I dashed over in wrinkled sweats for a last minute present.

Thanks for donating to my kids’ fundraiser, and thanks for putting their poster in your window.

Thanks for rushing my order, and thanks for not guilt tripping me about it.

Thanks for staying an extra fifteen minutes the day I got stuck in traffic.

Thanks for that extra cup of coffee, then saying it’s on the house.

Thanks for carrying the financial burdens you do, all to provide a place for me to come.

Thanks for being one of the little guys, responsible for such a big chunk of what makes our
community tick.

Thanks for being here for me. For us. For everyone.

Hope to see you soon!
