Just because she's adorable...

Meet one of our littlest shoppers, Kate. She is such a sweetheart and her mom tells us she loves to carry her "Pout Purse" around the house!
Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Saturday!

Kids love birthdays

which is exactly why I thought this was such a great product when I saw it on a mommy blog a few weeks ago. This Birthday chain kit is a great project for you and your child to do together and is also a great visual as they count down to their "big day". Having a two year old really reminds you that a child's concept of time is a little skewed so this is a good way to help them keep track of the days and to have fun doing it. Plus, this small company donates 5% of all of their profits to support research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute after losing one of their own to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2007. How can you not admire them for that?

Our Weekend

Luke, Isabelle, and I had a great 3-day vacation in Iowa this weekend. We spent the weekend in Sioux City with my sister Kristen, nephew Garner, and brother-in-law Jeff. We had a wonderful time. The weather cooperated nicely and we spent the weekend outdoors at the park, at the carnival, and at Garner's 4th birthday party.
Trying to stay busy on the LONG drive
Fun at the carnival

I have to show you this picture of the awesome birthday cake that Kristen made for Garner's pirate party. What I won't show you is a picture of it a couple hours later when it fell completely apart....many HOURS before the party started. We managed to salvage it, but it wasn't quite the same.

Argh!!

And last, but not least, the adorable cousins in their adorable Knucklehead skivvies from Pout

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

BEDDING BLOWOUT!

Holly and I have been finding more and more new accessories to add to the store but we are running into a space problem. For this reason we will no longer be carrying crib bedding and we want it outta here!!! That means ALL bedding will be marked at 40% OFF until it's gone starting TODAY. We have some adorable boy, girl, and nuetral sets left from Dwell Studio, Caden Lane, and Babylicious. If you or someone you know is expecting, come on in and check it out.

In other news...Pout will be CLOSED Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. Holly and I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday.

A little out of the ordinary...

This post isn't about any new products, clothing, or even about babies or kids! I was flipping through a magazine this morning and saw this great list of inspirational quotes that I thought I'd share. Holly and I have had quite a year and one thing we consistently remind each other (and ourselves) is that no matter what, we NEED to stay positive. Starting a retail business during one of the country's worst economic times (not to mention the massive flooding just a few short months ago) can get a tad bit stressful and it's sometimes easy to focus on the negative. We have been so lucky that through it all, Pout has been doing great! Pursuing my life's dream (and doing it with my best friend) is truly a gift. Thanks to all of you that continue to support our dream....

Stress can push your internal resources to the breaking point.
Make time to UNWIND.
Just because a task is important doesn't mean in can't be FUN.
Missteps are part of any process. Stay focused on where you're headed.
Cultivate the art of knowing when to move on.
Don't shrug off compliments; honor and remember them.
Resist the urge to overanalyze every experience. LIVE each moment instead.
Make this the day you stop dreaming and start DOING.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fun & colorful feeding!

Look at these fun colorful plastic bowl and spoon sets we received today! Its silicone suction base makes this baby feeding set a no mess operation. Each set includes a whimsical food grade silicone animal spoon that is easy on gums. Microwave and dishwasher safe. Let's face it, feeding your baby or toddler is a mess so it might as well be fun too! This is from the same great company that brings us the colorful polka dot duckies and fun bath toys....Elegant Baby. Enjoy!

Also...for any of you waiting on our new shipment of Aden & Anais muslin blankets....they're in!

Hope to see you soon!

The verdict is in....

Lucy and I (most importantly Lucy) LOVE the Boogie Wipes! I bought the grape and she thinks they are great and is even trying to blow her own nose now (very successfully for a two year old I might add). We also tried them on one of our favorite customer's lil guys yesterday and he seemed to like them too. Well, as much as an almost one year old can like getting his nose wiped anyway.

Just wanted to give you the update....have a great day!

Boogies.....

I don't know about you but I feel like I'm constantly chasing Lucy around with a kleenex to clean her nose. Right now in fact her poor lil nose is all red because it's been running so much lately that even the softest of soft lotion tissues are starting to irritate her poor skin. This is why I was so happy to receive a new product today that I'm sooo excited to try! Boogie wipes are soft saline infused wipes that help dissolve mucus while moisturizing with Vitamin E, Chamomile, and Aloe. They were invented by two moms and come in grape, fresh scent, and menthol. The reviews I've read on this product are awesome and I will be sure to let you know how Lucy's little nose likes them....

Handmade. Unique. Beautiful.

Today we received a shipment from Rag & Bone Bindery which is a company that makes gorgeous hand bound books and gift items. I found these by accident while researching other products online and instantly fell in love. When I opened the boxes this morning I was pleasantly surprised that they are even more beautiful in person! Their adorable book called "Twelve wishes for baby" is a perfect gift for a mom or grandma as well as the pocket brag book for carrying pictures to show off of the new bundle. Another favorite of mine is the growth charts. When I had Lucy, I found that cute growth charts are hard to come by and wish I would've had one of these!

Holly & I hope you all had a great Mother's Day and hope to see you soon!

Have a great Monday.

Happy Birthday to my baby!

My little Lucy Adeline is 2 today!!! I remember the day she arrived like it was yesterday...7 days overdue with a full head of hair. It really is true that once you have kids, you barely remember your life before them. Since Lucy's arrival my life has definitely been hectic but I wouldn't have it any other way. She is my angel, my sunshine, and my heart.....

3 weeks

2 years!!!

She insisted that she was "tree...I not two!" all morning which probably is just another sign that I'm in for an interesting time with this little one. Terrifying, terrific, terrible two's...bring it on!

I love you Lulu.

You have got to see these!

We got an new line in from Frenchy Baby Organics today. Frenchy Baby Organics is a great company who uses all organic cotton in their clothing. The clothing is pesticide and herbicide free. They use an eco-friendly dyeing process for their clothing and it is so incredibly soft and breathable next to baby's skin. They also donate 5% of their profits to charitable organizations that are dedicated to helping children. How great is that?!

The line consists of wide leg pants, onesies, tunics, and dresses. I, of course, love all of the clothing that we have here at Pout, but I must say, this is quickly becoming a favorite. It comes in sizes 3-6m, 6-12m, 12-18m, and 18-24. Yep, that's right, Isabelle is too big for it. Depressing, but I will be okay...I think. :)

Check out these gorgeous outfits!

Hope to see you soon.
