New Years Eve update

So...if you are in the Fargo-Moorhead area, you already know that the roads are still terrible out there so unfortunately we will be closed for the entire day. I'm still planning on opening at noon tomorrow unless the weather doesn't allow it so check back before venturing out.

I hope everyone stays safe and warm and has a wonderful New Year's Eve!

UPDATE

We will be closing for the remainder of the day due to the no travel advisory in Fargo-Moorhead. Hopefully we will be open our regular hours of 10am-6pm tomorrow but I will keep you posted here and on Facebook.

Now off to snuggle with my girl! Stay safe and warm!

Kris

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

With the weather getting increasingly worse out my window, I thought I should give you an update on what the store hours will be providing they don't advise no travel in Fargo-Moorhead.

Friday, December 31st: open regular hours of 10am-6pm
Saturday, January 1st: noon-5pm

I will be sure to update Facebook at the blog if the hours change due to weather.

Now for something fun that I can't believe I haven't shared yet! I'm such a sucker for Melissa & Doug food toys and I'm dying to bring this one home to play with...umm, I mean for Lucy to play with!

The Wean Machine

When I was at market this past October I saw this simple device in action and let me tell you, it was IMPRESSIVE! It's a great way to introduce foods to your little one without all the work. Just pop one of the many on the list of approved foods into the Wean Machine, squeeze the handle and Voila, it seperates all the skin, seeds, and chunks that you don't want for baby and leaves all the good stuff!

•Makes baby food wherever you are
•Easy to use, just fill, squeeze and feed!
•Portable, compact and includes spoon
•Allergy friendly
•Saves time and money - no need to cook extra meals
•BPA, Phthalate and PVC Free
•Easily sterilized and "top-shelf dishwasher safe"
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Lucy and I had a blast and I'll try to post some pictures soon.

Scandinavian style and a little inspiration...

Check out the cute European line I just got in! Those of you with lil farmers in your life are going to LOVE the tractor tees!

Cute huh?

As we get closer to Christmas, I try to remember how lucky I am and be thankful for all the great people and things in my life. Last night however, I found that hard to do as my little Lucy figured out that she is able to get out of her room at bedtime! I knew it was too good to be true that she just stayed in bed like she couldn't move!! Long story short, 3 1/2 hours later she finally gave up and I was one frustrated momma. I have to admit, the holidays can be hard when your divorced or single and have to share you child/children. Family outings like visiting Santa, watching holiday movies on tv, and driving around looking at Christmas lights just isn't the same. Well, add that to the fact that the little stinker LOCKED me out of the house this morning as I was shoveling and I have to admit, I was feeling a bit frustrated and "un-grateful"! Then, as I got to work and was reading my daily list of blogs, I came across this "no matter how hard things have been, no matter how hard things are, no matter how hard things become, she has been, she is, she will be the reminder that something great is just around the corner."

Stinker or not, I am feeling a little more grateful.

Bamboobies!

When I saw "Bamboobies" on a sign at market this past October, I couldn't help but stop and find out what they were! Turns out, they are a line of reusable nursing pads that aren't only soft and super absorbant but eco-friendly as well!

What makes Bamboobies better than other nursing pads?

SOFTNESS: Bamboo is much softer than cotton, hemp or wool and doesn't feel cold and clammy when wet like cotton does! Your tender nipples deserve nothing but the softest, most soothing fabrics.

ECO FABRICS: You deserve only all-natural, untreated, certified organic fibers.

HIGHER ABSORPTION: Ultra-soft wicking fibers close to your skin and
hemp inner layers to wick and hold 4 times more liquid than cotton.

DESIGN: Regular Bamboobies are less visible through shirts because they have
a waterproof backing and their heart-shape cups the breast without a seam!

Ergo is here!

Since we opened, I've gotten SO MANY requests for the Ergo carrier that when I went to market this past October, I KNEW I had to make an appointment with them! When Lucy was little I tried almost every type of sling but never tried this carrier. I assumed it was just like the Baby Bjorn but I was wrong! Although I am a HUGE fan of the Baby K'tan sling, I love that the Ergo is one size so mom or dad can use it!

This is the all-in-one soft baby carrier, assisting you through all the stages of your baby's growth and moving from front to hip to back position easily.

It was designed by Karin Frost and has undergone extensive testing by tens of thousands of parents. Its innovative design makes wearing your baby comfortable for hours at a time, gives you the freedom to remain active and productive in your daily life, and holds your baby secure to your body so you are HandsFree.

ERGObaby’s baby carrier design supports a natural sitting position for babies, eliminating compression of the spine and hips that can be caused by unsupported suspension. The baby carrier also balances the baby's weight to parents' hips and shoulders, and alleviates physical stress for the parent.

If you are looking for a carrier, stop in and try this one out. It comes in different colors and styles for you to choose from.

Also, remember that we will be open extended hours until 9:30pm this Thursday the 16th. Christmas is right around the corner so stop in and get that shopping done!

Meet one of the "girls"

So, as some of you may have noticed, there has been a few new faces around here lately. It's been so great being able to hire a few great girls to help out around here. Meet Crystal....

I know, adorable right? Her beautiful little peanut's name is Adia and that cutie of a husband is Chris. I oringally met Crystal & Chris when we first opened and she was pregnant with her little one. She's such a sweet and fun girl and I feel lucky to have her!

I had a list of fun questions that I made her answer for this blog post but of course I lost them so I threw that idea out the window (pretty surprising huh Crystal?)! She is my "organized" girl and I swear just a few hours here with me and I feel like the place is whipped into shape! Soo happy to have you here Crystal!

And now for new stuff! Look at these adorable socks sets we got in last week!

And really, does it get much more fun than this "mowhawk" hat for your lil man?

We've gotten a lot of new stuff lately so be sure to stop in to check those kiddos off your Christmas list!

simple wishes

As a mom who nursed and pumped for a year, I KNOW how inconvenient and trying pumping can be. I was lucky enough to have borrowed an awesome "hands free" strap from my sister and honestly don't know how anyone pumps without one. While I was at market, I came across an updated and more user friendly version of a hands free bustier and ordered them on the spot.

Simple Wishes Bustier allows multi-tasking moms the chance to be more productive while they pump, or simply to take a breath and recapture a moment for themselves. Stylish and functional, and grounded in innovative, thoughtful design, the Bustier is an affordable and quality alternative to the fussy and unflattering hands free alternatives on the market. Although the pictures are kind of silly, any pumping mom will tell you how AMAZING it would be to be able to work, put make up on, or even just talk on the phone while pumping!

If you don't have one of these you need to stop in and check them out!

For a good cause...

My friend Melissa who I've known since high school is doing a great thing that I thought I'd pass along.

During parent/teacher conferences for her oldest son, she was made aware of the fact that there are 5 kids in Anthony's class that do not receive milk each day at milk break. 5 kids that cannot receive it because there families cannot afford it. When she had the conversation with his teacher about it she thought instead of feeling sorry for them she was going to try raise the funds needed. So starting in December Melissa's goal is for them to receive milk just like their friends every day. She needs to raise $420 total and anything that goes over that she will be donating to Reinertsen School for any other kids that are not receiving milk. To make a donation you can go here. On Melissa's behalf, I thank you for all of your support and helping to "be the change"!

more Earth friendly toys!

This adorable line of toys from EverEarth(TM) is kid safe, eco friendly, and manufactured with wood taken from renewable forests, as well as recycled rubber wood. They’ve also taken care to only use water color based paints that contain less chemicals than the traditional acrylic paints used by most manufactures. EverEarth's hope is that others will also take the “eco” high ground and follow their lead for a better tomorrow. Green Today… Here Tomorrow. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that they are ADORABLE too.

Awwww....

When I was at market last month this was one of my absolute favorite finds! Most of you know that I'm divorced which means my little Lucy goes to her dad's every other weekend and has since she was one. I keep expecting it to get easier but unfortunately I think it's one of those things I'll just have to learn to deal with. She LOVES going to her dad's but there is definitely challenges that come along with that. I've always wanted to have something special to send with her to remind her that I'm always with her but haven't found the right thing...until now.

Check out these amazing "family tie" jewelry sets!

The idea behind this unique line of jewelry is to allow you and your child to wear a bracelet that symbolizes your unbreakable bond. Whether you are together or apart, the bracelet serves as a symbol of this cherished relationship. The centerpiece of each piece is a pendant made from 925 Sterling Silver. One side of the pendant features your choice of either a heart or a star. The pendant is linked by an adjustable Italian woven nylon bracelet.

Family Ties jewelry is available in two sizes: adult and child. Available for purchase individually or in sets. Presented in a beautiful box that makes them a perfect gift.

I can't WAIT to give Lucy her bracelet!

Have a great weekend.

blogs I love

So, instead of the usual post I thought I'd try something different today. I read a lot of blogs...mom blogs, friend blogs, parenting blogs, kids product blogs, store blogs, and on and on. Aside from the friend blogs, most of the others are for store and product ideas and although I enjoy readng them, they aren't quite as good as some of the fun, hilarious, or just down right heart felt and touching blogs that I follow. Here are some of my "can't miss" favorites...
1. rialee photography Who doesn't like to look at babies and kids right? Ria's talent and creativity amazes me and I just can't get enough of it! I suppose it doesn't hurt that she's just a great girl too.
2. Matt, Liz, and Madeline At risk of sounding too cheesy, this is a blog that has definitely changed my life in some ways. Matt's story of losing his wife just hours after delivering their only daughter is beautiful, real, and heart wrenching.
3. Ms. Single Mama Because I split from my hubby when my little Lucy was born, I was thrown into single motherhood without any warning or preperation! I somehow stumbled upon this blog and can't tell you how much I relate to some of her posts. She doesn't play the victim and I admire her strength so much.
4. Dooce I've mentioned this one before and really she is just downright hilarious. She verbalizes what many of us think but would never say and that's just totally entertaining!

I must warn you that with the exception of Ria's and Single Mama's, these blogs may use some pretty harsh lanuage so if you get offended easily, you might want to skip those.

I could go on and on because some of my greatest girlfriend write some amazing blogs that keep us all up to date on what is going on in each other lives. What did we do before the internet? Anyway, now it's your turn. What are some of your "can't miss" blogs?
