Halloween fun!

Last night Holly and I brought Lucy and Isabelle, ummm I mean Dorothy and Tinkerbell to the Halloween carnival at Moorhead High School. We had never been there before but heard about it from our good friend Bonnie who is a teacher there (thanks again Bonnie) and thought it was worth checking out. Seriously, I'm so glad we went! It was so much fun for them to run around in their costumes, play games, win lots of candy, and see other little ones dressed up.
Since Halloween is tomorrow, our hours will be cut a little short here at Pout so we can get the girls out Trick or Treating. We will be open at 10am as always but will be closing at 3pm. Until 3pm however, we hope to see you and your little ones here in costume! There will be candy for the little ones and even some special treats for mom. We also plan to take pictures of our little customers in costume to post on the blog.

HAVE A HAPPY & SAFE HALLOWEEN!

This picture says it all....

A lot of you probably recognize this photo. Our favorite photographer Ria from www.rialeephotography.com took this adorable pic of this little one in one of our hats and I just had to share it. You may have seen this in some of our ads but since we received more of these fun hats this week, I asked Ria if I could post it. Not only did we get these same pink & white color combo but we also received turquoise/white, chocolate brown/tan, and blue/brown. Really, what better solution for a 6month photo....simple, easy, and so STINKIN' CUTE!

Who are your three?

The 350 Project has a simple goal: motivate consumers to spend $50.00 {total} in three local retailers every month. That's it. If just half of the employed U.S. population spent $50.00 each month in independently owned businesses, their purchases would generate more than 42.6 Billion in revenue. Imagine the positive impact if 3/4 of the employed population did that. Founder Cinda Baxter has this to say: “Most consumers don't realize that so much more revenue stays in the community when they buy locally," says Baxter.

**********

What 3 independant locally owned businesses would you miss if they disappeared? Stop in. Say hello. Pick up something that brings you a smile. Your purchases are what keeps those business around.

For every $100 spent in locally owned independant stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain, only $43 stays here. Spend it online and NOTHING comes home.

Pick 3. Spend $50. Save your local economy.

We hope Pout is one of your three! :)

Last minute costume ideas..

October came WAY too fast this year and if you're anything like I usually am, you might be scrambling for last minute costume ideas! By some sort of miracle (and thanks to Grandma....thanks mom), I've had Lucy's costume for weeks so for once, I'm actually prepared! Last year Lucy and Isabelle were a bumble bee and lady bug which basically consisted of a onesie, babylegs, wings and a tutu. We don't have the embellished onesies this year but we do have the babylegs and tutus if you want to throw one of these adorable costumes together. Since it sound like it might be pretty cold, just throw a pair of warm tights under the babylegs for extra warmth.

Seriously....how adorable??? We do have a few wing/head piece sets left as well if anyone is interested. Otherwise, I think they would probably be easy to find at a costume shop.

Now for those boys. We arent' carrying any actual costumes, but here are a few accessories for the little ones that are going to be bundled up anyway....

We also carry the adorable Little guy ties which make a great "daddy" costume!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

FLU season! UGH!

We've been lucky here to have stayed pretty healthy so far this fall (minus the whole emergency brain surgery thing). Unfortunately a lot of you have been dealing with the flu yourself and/or your little ones as well. There's not much anyone can do but I thought I'd share a few items that have been helping some of our customers get through this icky flu and cold season.

Boogie Wipes- I can vouch for these myself because before these came along, I STRUGGLED to get Lucy to blow her nose. Now, not only does she ask for a Boogie Wipe when she needs one, she even attempts (sometimes successfully) to blow her nose on her own! Because they are infused with saline, it also easily takes care of the "crustiness" that seems to be there every day when I pick her up from daycare!

MomSpit- This no-rinse cleanser is a great purse or diaper bag essential for gently cleansing hands and faces when soap and water isn't available. It doesn't contain any alcohol so it's completely safe and doesn't dry out hands or cheeks! I even got a comment from one customer that it is a handy "stain remover" when you are on the go. It cleans like soap and water without the sink, moisturizes like lotion, and is manufactured in MINNESOTA. Pretty cool stuff.Safe Sporter water bottles/Safe Sippy cups - These stainless steel cups and bottles are a great "must have" all year round but some moms are finding that it has been easier to get their little ones to keep hydrated if they have a fun new cup/sport bottle to use. I won't even bother going into all the other great features of these because there are too many to list. LOVE THEM.

Potty toppers - As if there isn't enough germs going around already, add public toilet seats to the mix and it's just....well......disgusting! Potty toppers are an easy way to provide a barrier on those seats. I just recently started potty training Lucy and I feel so much better knowing her little hands won't be resting on a germy toilet seat. BLAH! This company also makes the Table topper to use at restaurants to: A. protect from germs lurking on the table B. keep your little one occupied with fun pictures while waiting for your food to arrive and C. make clean up EASY.

I hope everyone is having a great Friday!

One of each please....

When it comes to ordering, Holly and I try (keyword try) to be very selective in what we order for our girls. We have generally tried to stick to one piece or outfit per line which works well most of the time (ok, some of the time). Today however we received a line that we just couldn't resist! I'm pretty sure we are going to have to celebrate Christmas 7 or 8 times with all the fun dresses we ordered!!! Although, our girls are pretty girly so they can wear these for a fun girls day out on the town as well. Seriously, what better to cheer me up on this rainy day....

This is just two of the gorgeous dresses we got in today so stop in and check them out! We also got in another shipment of pettiskirts if anyone has been waiting for one.

Have a great day!

Project: winter jackets

We had so many requests for Winter coats last year so we thought we'd give it a try. We heard LOTS of good things about this brand's reversible jackets from current customers that have ordered them online in the past. Now that we finally got them, we love them too! In fact, Lucy has the pink and floral one and it's perfect for her!

Like I said, we are just trying the coat thing out so we don't have a lot in stock. Once they are gone, they're gone for the year so stop in soon if you are interested in them. If these go over well, we will definitely carry more variety next year.
Also, the pink boots I posted yesterday have been a hit so far so they probably won't last long either.
Have a great weekend!

LOVE = SHOES

It's funny that no matter how much I USED to love to buy shoes for myself, I now LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to buy shoes for Lucy. All the while I walk around with heels from 2006!

Check out a few of the new See Kair Run shoes we received today!

As I've said before....their boy shoes are even cuter than the girls! We currently carry up to size 9 but starting with our Spring 2010 line we will be carrying up to size 12.
Have a great weekend!

I hate to brag

but I have to share a picture of my beautiful 3 month old nephew Andrew. I'm pretty sure he is the cutest baby boy I've ever seen (not that I'm biased or anything).

He's so stinkin cute I want to eat him up but as Lucy would say "mama, people aren't food". How do you argue with that?

DAILY TEA SALE!!!!!

Starting today, all of the Early Fall Daily Tea line will be offered at just $10 PER PIECE!!! Yes, that's a HUGE savings so stop in and stock up for now, next Spring, or next Fall. Dresses, shirts, t's, pants, hoodies, and leggings...all of it at just $10 each. Their Winter line will be arriving in just a few short weeks so we need to MAKE ROOM.

This line starts at 3-6months and goes all the way to 5t for both boys and girls. It is a wonderful mix and match line of durable and adorable playwear that washes up beautifully. These work so great for Lucy and Isabelle because they are at the age where they wear the HECK out of their clothes so they need QUALITY if there is any hope of them wearing things more than once.

In other news, Holly and I brought the girls to the Pumkin patch this weekend and hoped to have some cute pics to post but as usual, my batteries died on the first picture! They rode ponies, a barrel train, a horse carriage and even had enough energy left to pick out a pumpkin to paint when we got home. I hope you all had a great weekend as well and are staying warm in this COLD!

Muslin wraps

Since we received our first shipment of Aden & Anais muslin swaddling blankets back in March, they have been literally flying of the shelves! Our rep even has a hard time believing what is going on here in Fargo that we sell out so quickly. They are just the most versatile blanket I have ever seen and for just $12 a piece or 3 for $32 you really can't beat the price! Most of you are pretty familiar with these so why am I bringing these up again? Well.....as debuted just this month, we have received new prints! They are so adorable with some more pink and blue styles as well as some bright colors added to the mix. I'd also like to answer the questions we've been getting most regarding this great blankets.

1. Are these too lightweight for winter months?

Absolutely not! The lightweight breathable nature of this muslin is what makes these such a great item. It keeps your little one plenty warm without you having to worry about them overheating. Also, when babies are little, the wraps are big enough to double up when swaddling which give you twice the warmth.

2. Are these the same wraps I see at Target?
Although these are made by the same company, they are different than one boutiques like Pout carry. The muslin is a different quality (a little more light weight from what they tell us). Also, they are smaller than the 47x47 we carry, only come in 4-packs and only come in limited prints.

Hope that clears up some of the questions! Stop in soon to check these out because as we know, they will be going quick!
Take care!
